12/29: Our White Winter at Canepa Ranch

 HAPPY WINTER EVERYBODY!

We left our Santa Barbara cabin in early December after a great Fall quarter, spent a couple of days up in SLO with Yeti and Dad (and to celebrate a very special 1st birthday party with Brody, Hudson and Katelyn), then drove north and east over the mountains to Canepa Ranch.

For the past few weeks Greg and I have fished, skied, climbed, gone to Christmas parties and non-Christmas party (including and epic birthday party that basically just involved me and Laura drinking way too much of everything right before my poor parents arrived), spaced out with family and friends, walked in the fresh snow, celebrated, decorated a Christmas tree (with Sid and Anni's help), chased Mattie down the train tracks, drank hot chocolate, froze our butts off at Pyramid Lake, worked on statistics 'n' stuff to get ready for next quarter, watched bald eagles over the ranch and generally just had a really easy, fun, relaxing winter break up here at our second home on the Truckee River.

Here's the brief run-down with pictures:

Oh this place. In the snow. A very white Christmas.

Just out for a little winter walk on the Truckee River.

In the backyard...

The tree decorating squad - Greg, Sid and Anni!

Our Reno family - Scott, Lauri, Aidan, Emme, Sid and Anni.
Thanks for letting us hang out with you guys all month!
And for feeding us, entertaining us, letting us drink your beers and all the other stuff,
playing Fifa, Rockband and karaoke with us, getting sushi, and being our great buddies.
Can't wait to see you again in March...and then SUMMER shortly after that!
We love you guys :)
Even Yeti and Dad were here :)
We love you guys!

We spent a couple days fly fishing at the
moody
cold
freezing
angry
windy
snowy
rainy
stunningly gorgeous Pyramid Lake...

...and were rewarded with some big awesome cutthroats (that we let go). Thanks fishies!
And a BIG thanks to Scott, for motivating to get out there.
And to Dan and Ray and Yeti for being awesome fishing buddies
on the second and way more miserable day.

And this wasn't even my biggest one of the day!

We missed Dylan and Jessie and the rest of the family all over the place!

Mattie and I are getting sad about having to leave this magical place, but we're looking forward to getting back to our little oak forest cabin to see our friends and start off a great 2016!!! We already have some amazing plans in the works, and it's only a few short months until SUMMER.

We hope you all had a wonderful and peaceful holiday and are wishing you an amazing, adventure-filled new year!

With love from Greg's cozy guest house at the Canepa Ranch,
Allison and Mattie the Snow Dog

Our lil' family/adventure team.
